Starting My Weight Loss Journey This Month
This month feels different for me. Not in a loud, dramatic way, but in a quiet personal decision that I know can change everything if I stay consistent.
I decided that I am finally going to take my weight loss journey seriously, not just talk about it, not just think about it, but actually do something about it every single day.
Recently, I sat down with myself and thought about what I really want, not just for this month, but for the rest of the year. I realized I want to feel comfortable in my body. I want to feel strong, confident and proud of myself. I want to look in the mirror and genuinely love what I see, not just sometimes, but most days.
So I set a simple intention:
✨ Be consistent.
✨ Be disciplined.
✨ Show up for myself.
I didn't make it complicated. I didn't set unrealistic goals. I just decided that I am going to try every day.
One of the first things I did was take progress pictures. Honestly, that wasn't easy. Standing there and taking those photos made everything feel very real. It's one thing to think about your body, but it's another thing to actually see it as it is... But I reminded myself that this is not about shame, it's about growth. These pictures are not here to judge me, they are here to show me how far I will go.
I am actually excited to look back at them months from now and see the difference. Not just physically, but emotionally too. I know this journey is not only about losing weight, it's also about building discipline, confidence and self respect.
After that, I downloaded a workout app. I wanted something simple that can guide me, especially on days when I don't feel like thinking too much about what to do. Having structure helps 💯 It removes excuses. When you already know what to do, it becomes easier to just start.
But what really got me excited was something I kept hearing from people, jumping rope.
So many people talk about how effective it is. Fast results, full body workout, burns calories, improves stamina… And honestly, I was curious, I wanted to challenge myself.
So I decided I am going to try it.
Today was my first real day doing skipping seriously and I am so proud of myself!!!
I did 300 skips. The app breaks it down into sets, 30 skips at a time with 30 second breaks in between.
It might not sound like a lot to some people but for me, it was everything 🥹
Because the hardest part is not doing 300 skips. The hardest part is starting.
There were moments where I felt tired, moments where I wanted to stop, moments where I messed up and had to restart, but I kept going. Slowly. Patiently. One set at a time.
And when I finished, I just stood there smiling on the inside because I showed up!!! 😊
That feeling… That pride… It's something I want to keep chasing.
I am really excited and hopeful about this journey, I know results won't come overnight, I know there will be days when I don't feel like working out, days when I feel tired, lazy or just discouraged, but I am praying for something deeper than motivation.
I am praying for consistency 🙏
I am praying for discipline 🙏
I am praying for the strength to keep going even when it's hard 🙏
Because motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what truly changes you.
I also reminded myself of something very important:-
My body is a temple.
" Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you… Therefore honor God with your bodies" ~ 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
That verse really sticks with me.
It makes me realize that taking care of my body is not just about looking good, it's most importantly about honoring what I have been given.
So what I eat matters.
What I do daily matters.
How I think about myself matters.
After my workout today, I made myself a simple breakfast, oats... And honestly, it was so good!!! Recipe below 👇
🥣 Easy Creamy Oats
Ingredients:-
✨ ½ cup oats
✨ 1 cup milk (or water)
✨ 1–2 tsp sugar or honey (optional)
✨ Pinch of salt
✨ Toppings (optional): banana, peanut butter, cinnamon, nuts
Steps:-
1. Put oats, milk (or water) and a pinch of salt in a pot.
2. Cook on medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes, stirring until soft and creamy.
3. Add sugar or honey and mix well.
4. Remove from heat and add your toppings.
Quick tip:-
No time to cook? Just soak oats in milk overnight (overnight oats) and eat in the morning 👌

I added banana slices and a bit of cinnamon on top on mine
Another thing I am learning... This journey doesn't have to feel like a punishment, it can actually feel good... It can feel rewarding.
SSmall choices like that matter.
💦 Drinking more water.
🏃♀️ Moving my body.
🍌 Eating better.
🧘♀️ Resting when needed.
All these small things add up over time.
I am not trying to be perfect. I’m just trying to be better than I was yesterday.
And I think that is something many of us struggle with, we want fast results, instant transformation. But real change is slow. It's built in quiet moments, in the days when no one is watching, in the days when you don't feel like it but you still do something anyway.
That's where growth happens 💯
This month is just the beginning for me. I don’t know exactly how my body will change but I know I will change, my mindset is already shifting. I am becoming more intentional, more aware, more disciplined... Clock it 🤏
And I am proud of that.
If you’re reading this and you have been thinking about starting your own journey, whether it's weight loss, fitness or just becoming a better version of yourself, I want to tell you something simple, just start, you don't need everything figured out, you don't need to be perfect, you don't need to wait for the right time.
Start small.
Start messy.
Start tired.
But just start.
Even if it's 10 skips.
Even if it's a short walk.
Even if it's choosing a healthier meal once a day.
It counts.
Those small steps build something powerful over time.
Yours truly,
Yvonne.
