My brilliant daughter turns 5 today!!!
It's crazy that Zain is 5 already! It feels to me like it has happen in the blink of an eye, I know, cliche! I guess only parents will understand.
She celebrated her special day at school with her friends and classmates.
Looking back, carrying Zain for 9 months in my belly was pretty easy, I didn't suffer from the nasty experiences that come with pregnancy, I had no morning sickness for one!!! Yeah!
My birth experience was good, I was scared as hell but it was good, looking back now, it went so smoothly, I didn't push much and there she was, out! Alive and healthy!
Today I celebrate Zain, a very precious gift in my life, a precious gift that keeps on giving.
True to the meaning of her name: Godly light, she is a light that draws so many, a friend to all and with a drive for life that inspires me everyday.
She is a fast learner, a natural storyteller and artist(her drawings are pretty good for her age), a team player and kind friend. I love her sense of humor, her contagious laugh! Her laugh is always funnier than the joke! Hahaha!
With her little hands, she loves to help around with chores, she really enjoys being useful at home and I can count on her to drop what she’s doing and help me at any given moment, from rinsing cups to "sweeping," washing her handkerchief to "helping cook" chapatis lol! She always wants/demands to help!
I feel so blessed to have a daughter with such a beautiful soul.
I know my friends and family will agree that we are all so lucky to know Zain.
Zain, thank you for the light and love you have brought into our world since the very beginning. You are an absolute gift and we love you more than you’ll ever know.
I pray that God gives you a great, healthy and long life!
Happy birthday Zain!
Love, mama.

Hi! Hope you are doing great!
I thought I would share my skincare routine today.
My skin type is combination, some parts are oily, some parts are normal and I suffer from hyperpigmentation.
Hopefully the tips i'll drop will assist someone out there.
I follow 5 simple steps in the morning:-
- Cleanse
- Exfoliate
- Tone
- Serum
- Moisturize
1. Cleanse
I use a very gentle cleanser; Medimix Ayurvedic Anti-pimple Facewash
It contains neem, aloe vera, turmeric and some other Indian herbs that are good for the health and complexion of the skin.
I use a silicone facial cleansing brush to assist in cleansing my face, that blue scrubby thingy you see pictured!
I prefer the silicone bristle brush because unlike brushes with nylon bristles, it is non-porous, meaning it's resistant to bacterial buildup and thus more hygienic.
It built with three different structure of bristles to ensure a gentle but deep skin and pore cleanse.
2. Exfoliate
It's not advisable to exfoliate daily, but the face scrub I use is super gentle, barely abrasive, so it can be used daily.
It's from Medimix as well, I just love Medimix products!!!
3. Tone
I use a hyaluronic acid toner. Hyaluronic Acid is crucial to the moisture and elasticity of our skin and as I get older I notice I'm obsessed with products that have HA... Hey! We all want to age gracefully, no one wants saggy skin.
Hyaluronic acid also smoothes the texture of the skin, I suffer from textured skin, but this toner has been helping me combat that, every time I use it I can see and feel a difference.
4. Serum
I use a Vitamin C serum. I believe any serum that is high in antioxidants is great if you suffer from hyperpigmentation, it will help brighten your skin,
5. Moisturize
After applying my serum I go in with my moisturizer. The moisturizer I use is by Clear Essence, it is meant for people of color, corrects dark spots, acne scars and sun damage. It helps a lot if you suffer from hyperpigmentation as well
I also remember my lips, the lip-balm I am currently using is a mint flavored one by Malibu Lipcare.
In case you are in Kenya, and need to purchase any of the products mentioned, below are links to shop online:-

Goodbye March! :-)
It excites me when days come and go, because I can't wait to celebrate my daughter's first birthday, which will be on June the 23rd! Aah! I know by then she'll be walking too. If you have any awesome 1st birthday ideas please share them with me or if you know someone who makes great cake, please hit me up (Email: yvonnewaluvengo@gmail.com) . I'll organize the birthday on my own, haven't settled on Zain's birthday theme yet though, hope I'll have figured out what I need to by June.
My personal life aside, let's talk blogging. In terms of blogging 2017 is a year of experimenting; with new topics, designs, social platforms, companies and everything in between. You notice that I've changed my blog's header and theme, the whole purpose behind tweaking stuff here and there is to alllow my blog to grow with me and make it easier to branch out into new blogging territory.
Since the beginning of the year and now I've learnt a number of thing, the first lesson being that not having a super focused niche is totally okay! I blog about everything from beauty to fashion to motherhood to travel to random thoughts (Bloom Notes) and surprisingly, people who want to read about each topic seem to find them just fine without getting turned away by the other posts.
Second thing I've learnt is that most times you have to take the initiative of approaching companies for blog collaborations, marketing of products or giveaways. I have sent proposals to quite a number of companies, I'm happy with the feedback and looking forward to working with them.
Finally, I have learnt that taking blogging breaks is absolutely okay and even beneficial for my blog. You all know I can go for daaaays without posting, but when I finally have time to write, I am so much more motivated and inspired to create good content. I keep a master list of post ideas, so during these breaks I just fill that list up with ideas I want to try but too occupied or lazy to write at the time. Almost all of my popular posts come right after these long breaks, so I really need to stop feeling guilty when I haven’t had a post up in a while.
Trying to build a successful blog is both a nerve-wracking and exciting experience, I’m so thankful for all my readers that support me, I'm so grateful, you are appreciated.
Among my blogging goals in 2017 is to be more open and connected with my readers, so if you're interested in connecting, you should definitely hit me up or just follow along on any of these platforms (link attached) :-
Thanks a lot for stopping by! I wish you lots of blessings as we start a new month.
Love & Light! ❤
