Things, People and Life

By Yvonne Waluvengo - February 11, 2013

Dusty worn out shoes
Treading on a rocky path
The sun is hot...
So hot it's melting my sense of humor
Defrosting the reality in my mind
I can barely afford a snigger
When I look at things, many things
Things here are also people
Things that once made me laugh

Maybe I shouldn't have taken this afternoon walk
This wind blowing on my face is making me see
It's making me see things and people
Maybe I should visit the local pub down there
A drink or two will keep me sane
But sometimes sanity breeds absurdity
The absurdity assuming form of reality

A drink or two will keep me sane
Sane and happy
I will see things as things and people as things again
I will laugh at this spiel called life
A spiel whose persuasion is only delusive
A spiel full of words that quickly varnish.
